Cotswold Male Voice Choir join Forest of Dean Male Voice Choir, Warley Male Choir and
Diamanté Vocal Ensemble for the Last Night of the Proms. Gloucester Cathedral, 2007.

The membership of male voice singers in the Cotswold Male Voice Choir has risen from 35 to over 50 in the last year, thanks mainly to word spreading about our rehearsals being so much fun. The credit for this must go to our musical team of Martin and Rosemary Dear, Geoff Mann and Roy King.

History of The Cotswold Male Voice Choir

Male Voice Choir - 60 Years
The Cotswold Male Voice Choir circa 1950 (then S. Smith & Sons Ltd. Male Voice Choir)
and the Choir, which now numbers over 50 members, pictured in 2008.


The Cotswold Male Voice Choir was formed in 1949 and has become one of the best known male voice choirs in the Midlands and the South West. The choir was recently described on BBC radio as “A happy singing group who put on great male voice choir shows and also have a successful social life.”

In addition to many local events, including concerts at Tewkesbury Abbey and Gloucester Cathedral, the Cotswold Male Voice Choir has performed recently in the French Alps at Annecy, in Wales with three Welsh male voice choirs, in York at the invitation of the Mayor, and twice at the Malvern Music Festivals.

The Choir sings a broad repertoire including male voice choir favourites, classic and operatic,
big show numbers and popular music.
Our Musical Director also agrees suitable music with the bride and groom for weddings.

Former Honorary Secretary and Life Member of the Cotswold Male Voice Choir, David Ford, presents Sue Johnson of the Samaritans with a cheque for £1,000.

The majority of Cotswold Male Voice Choir concerts support good causes. Over 60 years, this has accounted for many thousands of pounds raised for charities.
